Easiest Home Security Cameras

Posted on 03:10 by Unknown

It has never been easier and less expensive to install in home security cameras. There are so many reasons to install security cameras from keeping an eye on your belongings to watching the kids playing in the backyard while working out of your home office. Traditionally installing a security system meant drilling a lot of holes in the wall and feeding wires all over the place, but this is no longer necessary. If you have been considering getting a home security system, but are unsure where to start this article can help.

The easiest way is to purchase a wireless security camera kit. These kits come with just about everything you need to setup the cameras including the receiver. Wireless security cameras have all the capabilities of regular wired cameras, so you will need to decide which features you will require. Some of the options include color, black and white, infrared night vision, internet accessibility, and various options for video resolution. For a more hands on approach get a model with pan tilt and zoom functions. Use a hidden camera if you want to be covert about it. Another benefit of mini cameras like this is that they consume about 20% of the power larger cameras require. There is something to fit every budget and these security cameras can be purchased starting at around $80, but a higher quality model will run between $200 and $300.

Line of sight is an important consideration when deciding your cameras. You want to make sure there is adequate signal strength to reach the receiver. This usually is not a problem as most signals can be transmitted several hundred feet without a hitch. Higher quality models can transmit up to a mile. Obstructions like walls and solid objects will further reduce signal strength. When at all possible avoid line of sight through concrete walls. Bottom line if you place the receiver too far away from the cameras they will not work.

Setting up the cameras is as easy as deciding where you want to place them, mounting the cameras, and plugging in the power supply. The transmitter inside the camera will automatically relay footage to the receiver. The receiver can be plugged into any television. If you want to record data captured by the cameras the best way is to setup a digital video recorder. Internet based cameras allow you to login to a website assigned to your camera network and view footage from any computer anywhere in the world. You can even access footage over the internet from your mobile phone.

Home Security System Basics | Home Security

Home security is an interesting topic, because people generally look into it thinking that there's a one-size-fits-all, silver bullet solution. These same people don't bother to take the most basic precautions of locking doors and windows at night, lighting potentially dangerous areas on their property, or putting dead bolts on all their exterior doors.

They look to an electronic home security system as a stop-gap measure that can fill in for all their short comings, but don't look at the inexpensive things they can do to deter the casual criminal. Let's take a look at some of these precautions that should be considered before investing in an elaborate home security system.

Your exterior doors are one of the main points of access to your house. If they're wide open, someone will walk through them, almost guaranteed. The next level of security is closing them. When they're closed, someone has to actually do something to get into your house. And the more "things" people have to do to get into your house, the less likely they are to attempt to gain access to it. That's one of the basic tenets of home security, and something you should keep in mind when shopping around for your home security system.

The next step would be making sure that you have deadbolts installed on all your exterior doors. It know it sounds somewhat dramatic, but standard locks are easy to bypass. I can't count the number of times I've seen someone gain access to a garage or uninhabited house using nothing more than a cheap ID card, CostCo Membership card, or driver's license.

A standard lock just won't cut it for someone who is willing to go the extra step to gain access to your home. If you want to bring it to the next level and force a robber to actually destroy property to enter your home, a deadbolt is the only way to go. With a deadbolt in place, they will either have to be very proficient at picking a 6 tumbler lock, or kick your door in.

And that brings us to the topic of windows. They're great to look out of, but they're crummy from a security standpoint. Not only do they let people look directly into your house, but they're fragile and easy to break. However, they do force a criminal to take the next step and destroy property if they want to gain access to your home, as long as they're closed and locked! This is a must, and you should check every night before you go to bed whether or not all ground-accessible windows are closed and locked. Make it a routine.

Home Security Tips

Coupled with the population increases we also have depleting resources, and because of this more individuals are more tempted to steal and perpetrate crimes to stop themselves or their family from starving and sinking into more dept. Plus, bad individuals and criminals are also inclined to using high-tech weaponry and systems to break into and rob banks, companies, and also houses. It would then seem that more information about home security and also business security is needed.

Statistics from the FBI show that an approximate of around 3.5 billion dollars was never recovered from the estimated 2 million burglaries in 2003. Statistics show that 65.8% of these burglaries occurred in residential houses. It seems that these days, locks and bolts aren't good enough to keep your family and house secure and that more technical home security systems are required to help.

If you want to be sure of the safety of your children and family, as well as your possessions and property, it will be necessary to buy and fit a good security system manufactured by a reliable and conscientious company. One of the companies that you can rely on when it comes to your security needs for your house and commercial buildings is GE or better known as General Electric, who can provide, either a basic or more advanced system.

The home security systems offered for house owners by GE focuses on three areas which are, property management, connected home and security monitoring. These three aspects are needed to be certain that your property, family and house are well secured and guarded.

About correct property management:

There is a product called TRACcess, which is produced by GE. This home security system was designed to give you constant updates with regard to your property. This will help to stop you from feeling so vulnerable and stressed when away from home. It is a product that you might consider buying.

The TRACcess is not only simple to use, but also simple to program. With just one push on a remote button, you can make changes in the in real time.

Having a house security system that allows your house to communicate with police, and other agencies, when there is a break in is very important. A properly connected house can help save lots of lives and property because it makes it easier for police or fire fighters to respond to possible threats, such as fires or any break in. Even when you not at home you are satisfied that your family house and belongings are well protected.

Monitoring your home:

The company has several systems, including Simon, NetworX, Allegro and Concord that will help maintain a safe environment in your home. GE also lets you customize your own security solutions to safely create a system that meets your needs.
